To run a successful dairy or beef suckler herd a farmer must achieve good fertility in his cattle. Our vets are competent in rectalling cattle, the use of ultrasound scanners and in advising on all aspects of fertility management.

On a lot of our dairy farms, more regular, in depth analysis is carried out into herd health and fertility issues using our Interherd Herd Health and Fertility program. This is relatively straightforward for those of you that milk record with NMR or CIS. For those of you that don’t, we can act as a bureau for you entering the data and then analysing the results.

For beef suckler herds, analysis of fertility parameters is just as important. This is often done as part of the annual herd health planning session and is a very useful measure of efficiency.

These results for the various herds are often used to benchmark your herd against others in the same category or region. A useful insight into how you compare with others with the same type of business.
